4/2/2020-A message from Fr. Mike Morin
On behalf of the schools of Bishop Neumann, St. Wenceslaus, and St. John Nepomucene, I write to confirm that yesterday’s Directed Health Measure from Governor Ricketts applies to all schools in the state of Nebraska, including ours. As it declares: “Schools statewide are directed to operate without students in their buildings through May 31, 2020. Extracurricular activities are also cancelled statewide.” This means our schools must continue operating in alternate learning mode until the planned conclusion of the 4th quarter. It also means, until at least May 31, there are to be no school activities involving students or any groups of individuals larger than 10, including but not limited to; proms, graduations, concerts/plays, field days, closing Masses, fundraising events, end-of-year school/family events, etc. For all schools, the spring sports season is officially cancelled.
Again, our schools remain in session under the current method of operation until the final day listed on our school calendars. Given our circumstances we do the best we can before the Lord. Join me in begging his aid to respond to these extraordinary circumstances in a way pleasing to him.
Extended School Closure – DHHS Directive
Saunders Catholic School Families,
Due to a new directive from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (see DHHS Directive), Saunders Catholic Schools will now be closed until May 6th 2020. This will be continually be reevaluated based on further directives from DHHS. We will continue to educate your children in an alternative learning environment. Please continue to reach out to your childrens’ teachers as we progress through the rest of the year.
May all of us feel the Love of Christ through this pandemic
John Kreikemeier and the rest of SCS Administrators
Bishop Neumann Parents,
I’ve attached a list of suggestions from the Nebraska School Counselor Association as we face our new reality. They are just suggestions. It’s important to do what feels right for your family during this time and you are the experts on what your children need. Please know that I am here if I can be of any help. Hang in there! Continued prayers for all of our families – stay safe and well!

Dear SCS School Families,
FYI, if you live within the Wahoo School district there is an opportunity to get food for children ages 1 to 18. The Wahoo School district has provided an excellent opportunity for families to get food that are in need. If interested please click on the link below for more information.
For any families that are not within the Wahoo School district there are most likely similar opportunities within the school district you live in. Possible ways to find out whether or not they have something set up would be to look on their website or give the school a call.
God Bless you all,
Mr. Mike Weiss (St. Wenceslaus Principal) on behalf of the SCS Administrators
To our Saunders Catholic School Families:
Following the recommendation of the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE), this email is to provide an update to the status of our schools. We will extend our closure another two weeks. The current plan is for students to return to their normal school day on Monday April 6, 2020. This will be reevaluated by the NDE on a weekly basis and we will follow their recommendations. During the times of school closure, we ask that students and parents do not visit the school unless you have set up a meeting time with teachers or school personnel.
In terms of your children’s education, we are moving to alternative methods of educating your children. Some solutions are online classrooms and packets sent home to your children. This will look different at each school, so expect individual contacts from your school and your teachers.
Thank you for your assistance in this challenging time. Please be sure to contact your schools if you have any difficulties in helping your students to learn at home. Please also pray for a speedy end to the COVID-19 pandemic and for safety for the most vulnerable.
God Bless you all,
Fr. Matthew Zimmer on behalf of the Saunders Catholic Schools Administrators
This is the update provided by Three Rivers Health as to why they recommended all ESU2 schools close for a two week period. With the first case of community spread in Omaha, health officials believe there will be a spike in the number of those infected with COVID-19.
- CDC has declared that worldwide, including many states in the U.S, community transmission is occurring. Some countries and communities have widespread sustained transmission.
- This weekend the first case of community transmission was confirmed in Nebraska.
- Our neighboring states are beginning to identify community transmission (Iowa).
- Multiple large-scale exposure events have been identified in Omaha, which raise concerns about additional community transmission regionally and possibly statewide.
3/16/20-Dear Saunders Catholic School parents,
