Dear Bishop Neumann Parents and Friends:
In this photo below you see Chad Swanson presenting to Halle Hiemstra a certificate for the newly-established St. Damien of Molokai Scholarship. The endowed scholarship currently distributing $200 per year is awarded through the Service Hours Coordinator and the Religion Department. It is awarded to that student who best exemplifies Jesus’ words, “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brother, you do unto me”. (Mt.25:40) Halle has successfully completed her required service hours here at Bishop Neumann, having traveled with the 2017 Mission Trip team. In addition she has worked at the local food bank, did painting, served coffee and rolls at her parish, and babysat for young families while St. Wenceslaus hosted a parish dinner. Congratulations Halle and thank you for being an outstanding Bishop Neumann role model!
You will notice on our Bishop Neumann website (https://bishopneumann.com/development/endowedfunds-scholarships) an updated scholarship notification and application process. It is the location where any family may begin the application process for either a Needs-Based Scholarship or a Non-Financial Need Scholarship. Any family who wishes to request a Needs-Based scholarship or who wishes to obtain assistance from their parish (if such assistance is available at your parish) must complete an application through FACTS, which can be found on our scholarship site. The cost is $30 per application, though Bishop Neumann will cover $20 of that expense and asks each family to pay $10. By using FACTS we will be able to distribute scholarships in a much more equitable way while maintaining the confidentiality of each family’s financial circumstances. The deadline for these scholarships is June 30. Scholarships will be distributed this July.
I pray you have a blessed and peaceful summertime.
